Thank you for talking about pink diamond/rose in a more positive but analytical way. I go on tiktok and twitter for su sometimes and it’s so mentally exhausting to see how people see her in such a demonizing way and say she’s a horrible person and that everything in the series is her fault. I try sometimes to explain her character or correct some inaccuracies but it always falls on deaf ears or they keep mischaracterizing her or flat out say false things to prove their point (someone said PD punched Pink pearl in the eye and i was so confused by that statement) or say stuff like “oh but she left spinel”. I like to watch the youtube videos that show pink diamond rose quartz clips in chronological order because people are level headed about her and I can read the comments without feeling frustrated.
its no problem, ive been doing this for years. personally i cant have a peaceful interaction with the general fandom either because of this exact thing, so i avoid it whenever i can, i trust very little people with this ú_ù.
also this blog reblogs posts that resonate with her character, also posts memes sometimes.
in no moment there is an indication that she punched volleyball or that she abused her, in fact the canon is very poignant in the fact that pinks frustration wasnt directed at anyone specifically and it was something that she found hard to control because of the traumatic nature of these intense reactions, the outbursts. it is clear when you pick apart the themes of steven universe future and specially stevens actions in that very episode, hes not really in control either when he breaks the whole building, right?
most people are simply not bothering to pay attention to what the narrative is trying to say and the conclusion comes from an unrelated event in jungle moon (it is not a metaphor, pink punches a window with her fist and the glass is literally broken in the physical present kdjfjdjf).
the way i see the relationship between pd and volley is that is one of someone with a mentally ill or a mentally struggling friend who they care about and because friend has it worse they end up downplaying how much the violence of the environment is affecting them and finding hard to set up boundaries when the friend ends up hurting them by accident. this is even more amplified by the fact that homeworld is an inhuman world, a world of lovelessness, where the individual is encouraged to be supressed by and for the status quo of state perfection.
pinks performance is practically the only thing that prevails in defiance of that, shes the only one that cannot be controlled in the ways that white demands. in a world of greys her colorful influence and her open attitude is intoxicating to other gems, giving them the power to be themselves and show their wants.
and this is, i think, especially true for volleyball, who is a pearl, a servant, an object even. with pink she doesn’t need to play that role—pink has no interest in that, she just needs a person to be friends with. its this relative freedom that the situation brings what is so precious to her, i suppose.–
sorry for the rambling LMAO you activated my hyperfixation
